We at Phytaxis are committed to support the livestock industry with novel solutions

Phytaxis SA, a privately held company based in in Switzerland, extracts high value biopolymers through its proprietary process and converts them into sustainable products for the livestock market. The introduction of its novel ingredients into the feed market is based on many years of experience and the effectiveness of these ingredients proven in numerous trials and studies under different conditions. Our subsidiary Phytaxis Netherlands BV plays a central role in distributing and marketing our products in Europe and overseas. Our products are already registered in CH, EU, Japan, New Zealand, USA, Canada, KSA and we are expanding into other regions like South America and Asia. We recently opened a new office in Latvia to cover Northern and Eastern Europe.
The increasing world demand for food especially dietary changes towards higher meat intake creates constant pressure to increase performance in the livestock industry. For many years hormones and antibiotics were used as growth-promoters. Growing public concern about the negative health consequences on humans and the numerous occurrences of infections from bacteria resistant to antibiotics in hospitals has prompted the search for alternative solutions for the livestock industry. Phytaxis long term objective is to become a major supplier of this new class of products based on its R&D, engineering, production, and market knowhow.

The main trends currently taking place in the livestock market and from which Phytaxis strongly benefits with its novel products are:

  • Increasing rejection of the use of antibiotics and other drugs in animal production due to the proven increase in bacterial strains resistant to antibiotics and the threat this poses to the human population.
  • Increasing production costs for livestock and the need for productivity improvements
  • Climate change increases the number of stress situations for animals
  • Increasing demand for “healthy” food from the “consumer”
